The Conway buckle is a traditional buckle design valued for its simple construction, low profile and ability to provide strap adjustment without requiring a conventional buckle fold.
Unlike conventional centre bar buckles that use a moving tongue arrangement, the Conway buckle uses a fixed centre prong working through a double-slot frame to create adjustment.

About the Conway Buckle
The Conway buckle traces its roots to traditional British harness and equestrian leatherwork, where it was commonly used on bridles, reins, horse tack and adjustable straps.
Unlike conventional buckles that require the strap to be permanently folded and stitched or riveted around a centre bar, the Conway buckle works using a fixed prong and double-slot arrangement, allowing the strap to remain adjustable while keeping construction relatively simple.
Because the strap is not permanently fixed around a centre bar, Conway buckles are especially useful in projects where future adjustment, modification or rebuilding may be desirable. The flatter construction also helps reduce hardware bulk compared to many conventional buckle systems.
