This is an adjustable wooden strap cutter designed for cutting leather straps, belt blanks, and straight strips with consistent width and controlled accuracy.
The tool consists of a solid hardwood body with a sliding guide arm and integrated scale. A replaceable blade is mounted within the guide, allowing the leather to be pulled through while maintaining a fixed cutting width.
Unlike freehand cutting with a knife and ruler, this tool establishes a mechanical reference edge, ensuring repeatability and uniformity across multiple cuts.
How It Works
The leather is fed through the tool with one straight edge riding along the guide. The blade trims the material to the preset width as you pull the leather through.
Because the width is mechanically fixed:
- Each strap matches the previous one
- No repeated measuring is required
- Long, continuous cuts remain straight and controlled
Material Compatibility
Best suited for firm, structured leathers (veg-tan, bridle, tooling).
⚠️ Not recommended for thin, soft, or milled leathers, as they may flex and affect accuracy.

Setup & Use
- Ensure your leather has a clean, straight starting edge

Critical Usage Notes
⚠️ Blade Sharpness is Essential
A sharp blade is critical for clean, smooth cuts. A dull blade will drag, tear, and deviate from the set width.
⚠️ Check Blade Position
Ensure the blade does not protrude below the base. A protruding blade can damage your work surface and create a safety hazard.
⚠️ Lock the Setting Properly
If the knob is not tightened sufficiently, the guide may shift during cutting, resulting in wider or inconsistent straps.
⚠️ Do Not Force the Cut
Apply steady, controlled pressure. Excess force reduces accuracy and increases the chance of deviation.
