Bag feet are the small metal studs fitted to the underside of a bag. They lift the base a few millimetres off the ground, so the leather does not sit on wet floors, dirt or rough surfaces, and they take the scuffs that would otherwise wear through the bottom corners. They also give a handmade bag a finished, professional look.
These are made of solid brass and fix with a screw from inside the bag, so there is nothing to hammer and they can be removed or replaced later. Each pack contains 10 feet with their screws, in a choice of three shapes and sizes.

The 10 mm sizes suit small and medium bags, pouches and clutches. The 12 × 7 mm size is taller and wider, and suits larger totes, briefcases and travel bags.

Most bags take four or five feet, so one pack is enough for two bags.
How to Fit
Mark. Mark the positions on the base panel, usually one near each corner, set in evenly from the edges.
Punch. Punch a small hole at each mark, just large enough for the screw to pass through.
Insert. Push the screw through from the inside of the bag, so its head sits against the inner face of the base.
Tighten. Thread the foot onto the screw from the outside and tighten it with a screwdriver until it sits firmly against the leather.
💡 Tips
✓ Fit them before the lining. Install the feet on the base panel before the bag is lined and closed, so the screw heads end up hidden under the lining.
✓ Use a firm base. Feet work best on a stiff base. If the base is soft, add a stiffener or a second layer of leather so they sit flat and do not pull through.
✓ Stop them working loose. A small drop of thread-locking adhesive on the screw keeps the foot from unscrewing with use.
✓ Add a fifth foot on long bags. A foot in the centre of a long base stops it sagging between the corners.

About Brass: Brass naturally darkens and develops a patina over time, and feet will pick up scratches from the ground in normal use. Small variations in colour and finish from piece to piece are normal.
