These are full-grain, vegetable-tanned water buffalo Dark Brown belt blanks/straps sourced from a Leather Working Group (LWG) Gold-rated tannery. The Gold rating reflects the highest standards in environmental responsibility, including water management, chemical control, waste treatment, and supply-chain traceability.
Tooling & Edge Burnishing Performance
The vegetable tanning process produces a firm temper and a tight, dense fibre structure, making the leather well suited for tooling, carving, stamping, and embossing. The density and natural oil content of water buffalo leather also result in exceptional edge burnishing performance, allowing edges to compact cleanly and smoothly using water, gum, waxes, or friction-based burnishing techniques.
Ageing & Patina Development
With use and exposure, the leather will gradually develop a natural patina. This behaviour is typical of vegetable-tanned leather and reflects normal oxidation and handling over time.
