These are full-grain, vegetable-tanned water buffalo belt blanks and straps, sourced from a Leather Working Group (LWG) Gold-rated tannery.
At 2.5–2.8mm, this is the lighter of our two belt blank weights. It takes a buckle without bulk, sits flat through a trouser loop, and is easier to fold, punch and hand stitch. If you want a stiff belt that holds its shape under load, step up to the 3.5–4mm natural crust blanks.
The leather is supplied in crust form, meaning it has been vegetable tanned but not dyed or surface finished. This gives you complete control over the final colour and finish.
About the Leather
This leather is buffed very lightly to remove tannery dirt and handling marks left during production. This small step is needed to make the hides practically usable.
The grain structure remains fully intact. Substantial marks, scratches, and imperfections are still present, and the leather will develop a patina like any full-grain leather. For this reason, we classify it as full grain, not corrected grain.
Crust full-grain leather is not widely used in India for finished goods, so extra care is often needed to make these hides usable without taking away their character. We believe in being accurate and transparent about the leather we sell, rather than hiding this process.
