This is a working brush, and it is made like one. The bristles are genuine cattle tail hair, selected for their natural spring and resilience, and set directly into a solid wood base. There is no attempt to dress it up with a polished handle or decorative finish. What matters here is the part that actually does the work: the hair.
The 25mm natural hair is long, flexible and responsive, allowing it to follow the surface of the leather rather than simply skimming across it. It works well for spreading shoe cream and wax, working product into the grain and seams, and buffing the surface to bring up a shine.
The brush has a distinctly industrial appearance. The wooden base is rough and uneven, with the kind of unfinished character you would expect from a tool made primarily for use. Rather than spending on sanding, staining and polishing the wood, we've kept the finish simple and put the focus on the hair, construction and performance.
Why Real Hair Buffs Better
Natural hair isn't a smooth rod. Each strand has a fine, scaled surface that picks up cream and wax, carries it across the leather and spreads it thin, and that same texture is what raises the shine once the polish has set. It stays springy stroke after stroke, and it flexes into creases instead of flicking off them.
Plastic bristle is slick. It pushes polish around rather than working it in, and after a few months of use the tips splay and bend out of shape. That is the difference you are paying for here, and it is the only thing you are paying for.

Crackles and sizzles, curls into a small black bead and smells like burnt hair. Press the bead and it crumbles into black powder.

Melts and often drips, smells chemical or waxy. Leaves a hard, glassy bead that will not crush, it just flattens.
Why It Looks Rough, and Why That Is the Point
Let's be upfront: this is an industrial product, not a decorative one. The wood carries plenty of marks, rough spots and uneven finishing. Nobody has sanded it smooth, stained it or lacquered it for a display case.
That is exactly where the saving comes from. Every rupee in this brush has gone into the hair and the way it is set, and none into how it photographs. The brush does its job exactly as well either way; it just doesn't pretend to be something it isn't.
