KOKUYO Rubber Finger Cot (Needle Grip)
KOKUYO Rubber Finger Cot (Needle Grip)
Couldn't load pickup availability
A small rubber cap that slips over your fingertip and gives you a firm grip on the needle. When you saddle stitch through thick or tightly punched leather, the needle often needs a good pull to come through, and bare fingers slip on smooth steel. With a finger cot on your thumb and index finger, the needle comes through with far less effort and far less strain on your hands.
These are made by Kokuyo, the Japanese stationery maker, from natural rubber with a roughened, anti-slip tip. They are sold singly in three sizes, so you can fit your thumb and your index finger separately.
Applications
🪡 Pulling Needles
Grip and pull a needle through thick leather or tight stitch holes.
🧵 Long Stitching Runs
Reduce finger fatigue on belts, bags and other long seams.
🔩 Small Parts
Pick up and hold rivets, snaps, screws and other small hardware.
📄 Patterns & Paper
Turn pages and separate sheets of pattern paper, its original office use.
Key Features
✊ Anti-Slip Tip
The roughened tip grips smooth needles and small parts securely.
🌿 Natural Rubber
Soft and stretchy, so it hugs the fingertip without feeling stiff.
⏳ Resists Ageing
Made to resist ageing and stickiness, so it stays clean and usable for longer.
👆 Rolled Rim
The rim is rolled outward, which makes it easy to put on and take off.
Choosing a Size
Pick the size by the finger you will wear it on. It should fit snugly without squeezing. Most people wear one on the thumb and one on the index finger of the hand that pulls the needle, and these are often two different sizes.
| Size | Inner Diameter | Length | Typical Fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 15 mm | 40 mm | Slim index finger |
| Medium | 18 mm | 45 mm | Average index finger or slim thumb |
| Large | 21 mm | 51 mm | Broad thumb |
💡 Tips
✓ Order two. Each listing quantity is one piece. For stitching you will usually want one for the thumb and one for the index finger.
✓ It is a grip, not a thimble. The rubber is thin and flexible. It helps you hold the needle, but it will not stop a needle point.
✓ Look after the rubber. Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat, oils and solvents, which make rubber perish faster. Rinse with water and let it dry if it gets dirty.
