This is a nylon-faced hammer with a 25mm head designed for leathercraft and general workshop applications where controlled striking and surface protection are important.
The hammer features replaceable nylon heads mounted on a steel body, allowing impact to be delivered without damaging tools, hardware, or the work surface. Unlike metal hammers, the nylon faces absorb part of the impact energy, reducing marking, denting, and rebound.
This makes it suitable for striking punches, chisels, setting hardware, and general assembly work where a metal hammer would be too aggressive.
Why Use a Nylon Hammer?
In leathercraft and hardware work, direct metal-on-metal striking can lead to:
- Mushrooming of tool heads
- Damage to cutting edges
- Surface marks on hardware
- Excessive noise and vibration
Nylon provides a controlled, non-marring strike, protecting both your tools and your workpiece.
Applications
- Striking stitching chisels and pricking irons
- Setting rivets, snaps, and hardware
- Punching holes in leather
- Light assembly work
- General workshop use where surface protection is needed
