The Compact Aluminium Strap Cutter is a palm-sized tool for cutting leather into straps and strips of an even, repeatable width. You set the width once on the engraved scale, lock it, and every strap you cut after that comes out the same, with no ruler and no re-measuring.
The body is machined from aluminium alloy with a sandblasted, anodised finish and brass thumbscrews. It is noticeably smaller than the traditional wooden strap cutter, so it sits easily in one hand and takes up very little space on the bench or in a tool roll.

Once locked, every strap is cut to the same width as the one before it.
How to Use
Straight edge. Cut one clean, straight edge on the leather with a ruler and knife.
Set the width. Slide the guide to the width you want on the scale and tighten the thumbscrew.
Cut. Hold the straight edge against the guide and draw the cutter along in one steady motion.
Repeat. The freshly cut edge is your new straight edge for the next strap.
π‘ Tips for Clean, Even Straps
βΒ Use firm leather. This tool is made for firm, structured leathers such as vegetable-tanned leather. Soft, floppy leathers fold and bunch ahead of the blade and cannot be cut accurately with it.
βΒ Check the first few centimetres. Measure the start of the cut before committing to the full length, and adjust if needed.
βΒ Tighten before every session. A loose thumbscrew lets the guide creep, and the strap will slowly change width.
βΒ Keep the blade sharp. A dull blade drags and pulls the leather off line. Replace it as soon as the cut starts to feel heavy.
βΒ Do not force it. Steady, even pressure gives a straighter cut than pulling hard.
